Time not money

Just seen this very helpful article on sydneyanglicans.net encouraging worker to begin thinking about counting hours rather than money in the bank.
The article says “time is our key resource, because it directly impacts on our relationships.”

How good to see something like this being encouraged from a Christian standpoint. Many people, especially men, take so much of their concept of self-worth from their job. And ‘success’ at work is usually equated with long hours and big pay packets.
From a Biblical persective, it’s a very distorted perception. The article is spot on when it points out that time impacts directly on relationships, and of course, the most important relationship of all is the one we can have with God, through Jesus.
I spent last weekend encouraging a group of Christians to invest the time and energy into deepening and enriching their relationship with God. But many of the men in that group struggle to spend enough time out of work hours relating to anyone!
And while money has not been the driving force, I’ve certainly struggled for most of the time I’ve had a family with balancing work and family relationships, and I have made many mistakes in that area that I wish I could undo.

Read the article and then go and be couragous enough to talk seriously with others at church about their priorities when it comes to time, money and relationships.
