Internet witness
The concept of using the internet for evangelism is far from new.
In the earlier days of the ‘net, it was almost driven by the very novelty of the internet, but of late, Christians are getting much more serious, intentional and careful about using this now ubiqutious medium.
This came home strongly just this week.
I’ve been involved in the launch and promotion of Leigh Hatcher’s book ‘I’m not crazy, I’m just a little unwell’ – the story of his journey through Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.
It’s a small, but powerful book that is very readable. One of it’s great strengths is the way Leigh manages to witness very clearly to the place of God in his life, while not alienating unbelieving readers.
Leigh has had a huge response to the book, with hundreds of emails, many pouring out their hearts to him out of thankfulness for how well he has voiced their experience.
So I suggested setting up an online forum to provide a gathering place for his readers and others to ‘meet’ and air their concerns and frustrations, while encouraging each other.
What I hadn’t really thought about until the forum got underway last weekend, was the opportunity for witness that it presented.
But it’s already happened, is continuing, and is joy to behold and be part of! It’s a gentle witness, but is very ‘real life’, the sort of opportunity that you occasionally get in conversations with people (but often don’t take!).
Good stuff. Please pray for it, if you feel inclined.
