Happy and hot 2006

As I write, 2006 is three and a half hours away.
Not being big on significant dates and the passing of events like new years, I’ll probably be in bed well before the hoo-haa starts at midnight.
Most fortunately, our bedroom has a small air conditioner in it, otherwise I’d be sleeping in the lounge room (with the big a/c) tonight with the house being very hot still after a 39c day. Tomorrow though, promises to be a record hot new years day for Sydney, with the temperature out in our part of the city predicted to reach 43c. That’s stinkin’ hot. 109.4 degree Fahrenheit hot to be exact.

I don’t expect many at church tomorrow given the holiday and temperature factors. And I won’t be looking to spend longer than necessary in the church building!

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed this whole blogging thing this year, and I look forward to doing more of it – hopefully in a more focussed way – in 2006.

Wherever you are, may you know the riches of God’s blessings in Jesus Christ in the new year.

Amen

  1. Happy new year to you, brother.

I’m sitting at the computer preparing a sermon for next week (Joel 2:1-17). Wonder how hot it will be then, and whether there’ll be many starters.

The week following I’m off to forbes for Gliding Camp. The loony glider pilots stay in the shade until the hottest part of the day, and then go out into the little greenhouses and go flying!

    Richard.

  2. Did Joel earlier this year… ;-)
Next week is ‘holiness’ – and I expect reasonable numbers (except for the Summer Schoolers).
Enjoy your gliding Richard – sounds cool (if not literally).
