Spam control
Nothing new about this, but it is always sweet to find a neat, simple and elegant solution to a problem.
I’m currently running the beta 1 of Office 12 – the next Office suite for Windows from Microsoft. This is third Office beta that I’ve been part of and I enjoy it.
But as with most beta software, bits of it don’t work as expected. In my case Outlooks normally effective spam filter is playing up on my machine. No doubt it will be fixed in the next beta release, but I needed a solution now.
Out of my average email load of about 300 messages per day, about 40 or so will be spam of some kind.
My web host has a very effective spam filter, but it causes other problems like delayed normal mail.
So I decied to try Spambayes after a 3-4 year break.
What a pleasant surprise!
Working as an Outlook addin, it’s working very well with the beta software, and thus far has required little training (this is day 2).
And of course, it’s opensource software and therefore free to use.
Good job.
