Site resdesign 2

I while back I wrote that I was planning a major redesign of Westserve over the holiday period.
While to you, humble visitor, it looks like nothing has changed, things have been happening behind the scenes – albeit slower than I would have liked.

I should start by saying that while being fairly ‘geeky’ in lots of ways, I have very limited html and css skills. This limits my ability to quickly whip a brand new site! In fact, virtually all so-called web design that I do is built on someone else’s work that is in the public domain or available for non-commercial use.
In other words: templates.
But I didn’t want to use just another template for the new look Westserve. I wanted the site to express something of me.

So, I started with a very basic lump of css code that will give me three columns, with the centre column resizable. To that, I’ve added a personal touch and I’m getting the rest of the css and html framework in place (with much help from Simon !).
It’s been a good experience, and I’ve learned a heap about css on the way (but with a huge amount more to go!)
So, hopefully I will be able to start to apply the Textpattern code to it soon and then ‘cut it over’ to the main site here.

All the existing content will still be here, but the structure of the site will change a bit – hopefully to give a more logical flow to it.
Don’t forget that my coffee blog is up and running already at http://ministrygrounds.net

More soon…
