Gospel inroads in Japan

Japan has always been considered tough ground for the gospel to penetrate. It’s unique culture and lifestyle seems to naturally clash with many aspects of the gospel (although I guess that true of most cultures!).
So the word that up to 7% of Japanese students consider themselves Christians is surprising and quite wonderful.
The story is reported here

This will be encouragement to son, Joel who plans to spend a year in Japan in 2008 for his Uni course.

  1. I’d say some aspects of culture/lifestyle in other cultures are more harmonious with the gospel, too – things like community and promotion of relationships (common in many ‘Eastern’ cultures, like Chinese, Japanese, Indian, etc.). That said, there is a lot of the gospel which is countercultural almost everywhere!
