Something new
I committed to something new and different (for me) this week.
I will be joining Alexandra Labudda in Cologne, Germany and Matthew Smith (artiswork.org) from the U.S. to form the new core publishing group for TXPMag. TXPMag – which is Alex’s ‘baby’ – serves as the online magazine for Textpattern, the CMS that drives this site and a few others that I have an interest in.
Our mission statement for TXPMag is:
TXP Mag is an internationally oriented online magazine focussing on design, web development, freelancing, and of course Textpattern. We are here to entertain and inform you. Though an online magazine is at home in the digital world we like to keep our feet on solid ground and dabble in social political and other real world issues.
Expect good things.
Alex’s announcement of the move is here.
And if the name sounds vaguely familiar, Alex interviewed me earlier this year, here
For me, this has come about through the brilliant community that enfolds Textpattern. I know many open source products and projects enjoy quality support from the people that use them, but in my experience, the Textpattern community is way above average. And I’m speaking as someone who is not a coder or a web designer, but who love words and working with them.
The TXP community has been brilliant at helping me bring design and words together in forms like this blog.
So while I can’t write code, plugins or great CSS, assisting with a site like TXPMag is perhaps one way I can contribute.
I admire both Alex’s and Matthews work (always in awe of great designers!), and it should fun working with them on this.
