A day at the races - Holden blimp

One of the more interesting sideshows at last weeks V8 Supercar races at Oran Park, was the Holden blimp.
Well, not the blimp itself, but rather the 914 inch display screen on it’s side!

Turns out it’s a huge LED matrix – all the cool info is viewable here

  1. Unfortunately in the light of day it was hard to see what was written on the screen. I guess 914 inches just isn’t enough.

  2. When the blimp is over built up areas, I think it flies higher, and thereby s harder to read. At Oran Park, it was quite low, and therefore easier to see.
    I imagine at night, it works well. ;-)

  6. I saw the holden airship over my town of Mudgee on thursday 2/11/06 and told my cousin that I saw it but she said she sees it all the time.
    Could anyone please tell me exactley when it was built?

    It certainly gets around.
    My understanding is the blimp was built earlier this year, specficially for the VE campaign.
    Have you looked at the link I quoted in the post?

    I’m certainly enjoying my VE SV6! :)

  9. hi the blimp sertinly gets a round. it came around in Warwick Queensland on the 15/04/07 i dont go for holden but it was a good sight to see and alot of other people were their .
    PS. IT WAS THE WICKED BLIMP I HAVE SEEN
