New Church Plant

SWAC is about to start it’s 11th congregation.
After some research, the township/suburb called Valley Heights (just down the Mountains from Springwood) was regarded as a good place to plant a church.
Ironically, an old Anglican church building in Valley Heights was sold off some years ago – something that was very common in spread out Anglican parishes that were in numeric decline. So it’s actually a really positive sign that we percieve a ‘demand’ for a church back in that area.

The church will meet in space rented from Blue Mountains Grammar School, and it’s hoped that a strong connection with the school community will be built quickly.

One of our Pastors Craig Schafer is leading the group, and the seed group has folk from around 5-6 of our other congregations.

It’s been interesting to observe the process of establishing the need, organising the place, pull together the team, etc. We are, of course, investing a lot of prayer in the venture, and while I’m not personally involved in the plant, I am watching carefully as it’s always possible that I will be involved in a similar project at some point in the future.

For your interest, a simple ‘brochure’ website has been set up here

One of the stimulating things about working at SWAC is the way that we are always looking out for the next outreach challenge…
