Homosexuality and school formals

Over the last few days there has been a minor stir in the Australian media over a protest by some Year 12 students at an Anglican school in Brisbane. They are protesting that gay members of that Year 12 are not permitted bring their boyfriends to the school formal.

This, of course, is yet another example of the way the media jumps up and down screaming about how the church is obsessed with sex! Nonsense of course. If our society wasn’t so obsessed with sex, the church wouldn’t need to talk about as much.

Anyhow, this is leading up to my main point: Yesterday (April 16th), Richard Glover interviewed Archibishop Peter Jensen about the issue on ABC radio 702. It is a great interview. Peter comes across clearly putting forward the issue of Biblical authority, while maintaining compassion and concern for the people concerned.
