The newest family member
For years we were a family with loads of pets. I think the record period was when we had five dogs, three cats and numerous goldfish.
But time and natural causes take their toll, and now there’s just the smallest dog left (Tasha), and the ancient cat who refuses to gracefully go where ever cats go when they die.
But the time has come to add another to the Atwood collection again.
Enter Callum, the retired racing Greyhound.
I heard about G.A.P. – a body that re-trains and finds homes for retired Greyhounds via Dr Harry on TV. I had never been attracted to that breed of dog before, but they started to grow on me. They really suit our present stage of life. They are quiet, very easy-going dogs, who don’t mind being left for periods, are easy to walk, have few health issues and are affectionate.
Callum became available because he’s an older dog who has been returned to the G.A.P. program because of a change within the family that made it impossible to keep him.
So Callum moves in next Tuesday, and I’ll report more after that….
