Am I the only one?

I’m starting to feel like I’m the only one who hasn’t seen ‘Star Wars: Episode III’.
Even Ben has seen it, and I had thought he had sworn off all Star Wars/Trek/SG1 type sci-fi, and consigned it to the bin of all things immature.

Perhaps part of the problem is that I’m old enought to recall seeing the original in it’s first run, way back in 1977. To my mind, all of the others have failed miserably to live up to the enjoyment level of that first episode. It isn’t the fact that it was cutting edge at the time – although it was probably close to that.
I think the original was just a film for it’s time, touching lots of chords with people as some films do.

However, I might break my own tradition and actually see Episode III, after all, I can comfort myself with the thought that there are no more to come! ;-)

  1. Hey! I haven’t gone off all sci-fi…just Star Trek, really.

I watched the first old SW movie not long after seeing Episode III, and it was, er, a bit less fantastic than I remember it being when I was < 15. Maybe the history has something to do with it.

And don’t get your hopes up about no more Star Wars – there could be another three!

  2. I felt like I was the only one not to have seen ANY Star Wars movies at all. Now that Danny has gone out and watched all 6 in the space of a month I think I probably am the only one left. I get some shocked faces when I proclaim my Star Wars naivity.

  3. Well Neil, you’re NOT alone.

Not only have I not seen Episode III, I haven’t seen Episode II yet.

Episode I was just a bit tedious, even compared to the original. And I consider myself a SciFi buff.

I really did enjoy the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Even if Marvin looked like a Japanese Cartoon character, his mind was still original.
