Textpattern
Every now and then, you come across a piece of geeky stuff – software, hardware, doesn’t really matter – that just clicks!
Textpattern is such a thing.
It’s “CMS”: http://www.cmswiki.com/tiki-index.php software that makes the creation and maintaining of many different types of web site a breeze.
It’s open source, and has a great community to source answers from and who develop plugins to extend the functionality.
While TXTP was written in the ‘blog mould’, it really is flexible enough to use for many different styles of web sites.
This site is powered by Textpattern, and about another four or five simple sites that I run/maintain.
The really nice thing that that non-techy people can easily update or add articles to a site with virtually no knowledge of web technology…
Very cool.

Interesting stuff, and the sites look great. Do you host your own, do you use a hosting service with textpattern and mysql already installed, or do you buy ‘bareboat’ hosting and set up the apps yourself?
