The return of 'Spooks'

One the best spy series ever retuned to ABC TV last night. And a fine return it was.
I could never quite believe that Tom really did just walk out into the ocean and drown himself in the final episode of the last series.
But I have to say, the script for last night’s episode resolved most of the tricky bits very well. The main part that lacked credibility was the almost-cordial drink and cigar between Harry and Oliver Mace at the end. Why Harry wasn’t tearing the throat out of Oliver, I don’t know!

Any other ‘Spooks’ fans out there?

  1. I can’t believe it, I forgot to record it!

  2. We have it on tape here! Remind at church tonight…

  3. Spooks is the best spy series I’ve ever seen (much better than Red Cap, though admittedly that’s more military). That show rocks :)

    Dad’s addicted to it too.

  4. A couple of Spooks fans in this house. How did Tom survive?

  5. Can’t give away any spoilers, because neither Siomon nor Ben have watched it yet… I’ll email you the answer… ;-)

  6. Can I join the que for the tape? I only saw the first half episode.

I love Spooks. Very cool and very British.

I like RedCap too but it got annoying towards the end of the last season.

    Also, silent witness is back!

  7. Sure Pete – Ben has it at the moment, Simon will get it on Wednesday night, work it out from there. ;-)

Redcap started really well, but they just couldn’t resist getting whats-her-face into bed. That’s when it started going downhill. The European feel was nice though.

Silent Witness – another excellent return. Except that it’s a tad confusing, having just watched ‘The Commander’ where Amanda Burton played another powerful female, but one with a lot less self control.
A very nasty cliff-hanger ending last Friday though.

  8. I thought it was a fantastic cliffhanger – completely unexpected and no sentimentality. Just “bang” roll credits – see you next week.

I don’t like the jazzed-up theme for the new series. Much prefer the straigth choral track – hope they don’t touch the theme to Jonathon Creek.

  9. I’ve finished with the tape…I’m passing it on to Simon tonight and he can send it on to Pete when he’s finished. The script in the episode was a bit wonky in parts (mainly Danny’s lines), but was otherwise a good return.

  10. Careful Ben – if you start critiquing scripts I’ll threaten to publish you HSC English Extention II work! ;-)
